Ending violence against women and girls remains one of the most serious and ongoing challenges worldwide. HoAYN focuses on Elimination of Violence against Women & Girls by facilitating development, promotion and enforcement of appropriate mechanisms for prevention, protection and response to violence against women.
HoAYN Engage in advocacy for policy and legislative enactment and implementation. In particular, push for the full implementation of the Sexual Offences Act, Anti-FGM Act and the Protection against Domestic Violence Act. Additionally we participate in the annual 16 days of activism campaigns implementation HoAYN Sisters’ Keeper initiative.
HoAYN is currently implementing She Leads Africa regional programme that seeks to promote Girls and Young Women (GYW) activism, amplify voices, and advocate for their rights in regional decision making spaces. It aims at contributing to the building of an Africa regional movement of GYW to champion and influence relevant actors to promote their participation in key spaces.
She leads being a regional movement driving change, fuelled by actions in communities, with Girls and young women at its heart. We are united by the belief in the right of every girl and every woman, everywhere, to make the decisions only she should make
The programme focus on the Africa Union and the East African Community, with actions being linked with the country programmes in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Mali.
She Leads is a five-year joint programme of Plan International Netherlands, Defence for Children – ECPAT the Netherlands (DCI-ECPAT), African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), and Terre des Hommes Netherlands, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
